Spanish Field Trip

By Michelle Robinson

On Saturday, October 3, the New Hope Tutorials Intro to Spanish, Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 classes caravanned to Dorchester.  Our first stop was the Sea Breeze Mexican Grill.  Our group enjoyed chips and salsa, a fajita entree with rice and beans and fresh lemonade, the best I have ever tasted.  The food was authentic and delicious with gracious service including a small bag of chips and salsa for each of us to take on the road.  I emphasize on the road because those who rode in my vehicle consumed them well before arriving home.

After lunch we headed to All Saint's Church to see the Boston Camerata perform Nueva Espana: Close Encounters in the New World.  Camerata means a small chamber orchestra or choir.  For this particular performance the Boston Camerata joined with the Trinity Choristers, Boston City Singers and Les Fleurs des Caraibes to present a unique blend of Spanish baroque, indigenous American cultures and African rhythms.  It was a memorable and masterful performance that we had the privilege to behold.
