Our two Public Speaking groups extended our unit on "persuasive speaking" with a classic movie night featuring "The Music Man." In class we had watched a clip from the film in which Professor Harold Hill crafts a convincing sales pitch that utilizes the elements of persuasion we had learned. His pitch is so effective that it motivates nearly all the townspeople to support a boys band. Naturally we just had to see the rest of the movie. . . because food, fun & fellowship make lessons stick. A big thank-you to the Robinson family for hosting our gathering.
