Julius Caesar Comes to New Hope

Julius Caesar Comes to New Hope

The players of Classical Repertory Company (CRC), were back again this year, this time for Julius Caesar. They put on two workshops -- middle schoolers in the morning and high schoolers in the afternoon. They had the kids up and moving around, stomping around to the beat of iambic pentameter, pondering Shakespearian diction and rhetorical devices, and finally producing their own persuasive speeches. In two weeks, we will head down to Watertown to see them perform the play and have a talk-back session with our students.

We strongly recommend partnering with this great program. The actors who come and share their joy of encountering Shakespeare are truly remarkable, and our students leave feeling a bit more connected to the Bard's work. We will book CRC for next year!

I thought the Middle School Shakespeare workshop was very hands-on and engaging. The actors who led the workshop were very open and sincere and ready to talk about anything. I got to experience the true depth and meaning of Shakespeare. I had to push myself to understand everything but in the end it was really cool.

Today’s experience was insightful and fun. We got the chance to go through the text and fully understand the meaning of Shakespeare’s words. We played fun hands-on games and were able to write our own convincing speech’s like the ones that Brutus and Antony give in the play. This is such a fun workshop and love having the chance to do this every year.
